Privacy
policy.

How we collect, store and protect your personal information — in line with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

Last updated: 30 April 2026

CQFD Lab inc. ("CQFD Lab", "we") is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors and subscribers of cqfdlab.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what your rights are.

1. Data controller

The person responsible for the protection of personal information under Law 25 is:

CQFD Lab inc.
1002 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Suite 2240
Montréal (Québec) H3A 3L6, Canada
Email: services@cqfdlab.com

2. Information we collect

We limit collection to what is strictly necessary for the purposes described below.

a. Newsletter sign-up

When you fill out one of our sign-up forms (footer, in-article inline form or popup), you send us:

  • your name (required);
  • your email address (required);
  • your company name (optional);
  • your role or job title (optional).

When the form is submitted, we automatically attach a few technical details so we can keep an accurate record of your sign-up:

  • the form's language (French or English);
  • the page path where you signed up (for example /journal), with a ?popup marker if you used the popup rather than an inline form;
  • the exact consent text shown to you on screen, so we can demonstrate, if needed, the precise wording of your agreement.

Our forms include an invisible anti-spam field named website: humans leave it empty while bots tend to fill it in. If that field is filled, the sign-up is rejected and not stored.

You provide this information voluntarily at sign-up. We never collect payment information: OPEN1200 appointments are booked through a third-party scheduling tool (Cal.com).

b. Subscription preferences page

If you visit your preferences page (a personal link emailed to you after sign-up), you can complete or update:

  • your name, company and role already provided;
  • a phone number (optional);
  • your preferred language for receiving the newsletter (French or English);
  • the content topics you are interested in (multiple selections).

c. Technical browsing data

Our server keeps standard access logs containing the IP address, the user agent (browser), the requested page and a timestamp of each request. These logs are used solely for security, fraud prevention and technical diagnostics. They are retained for at most 90 days.

3. Browser local storage

The Site does not use tracking cookies. It relies only on your browser's local storage (localStorage) to remember your preferences. This data stays on your device and is never sent to a third-party server.

  • cqfdCookieConsent

    Records your choice to accept or decline the consent banner ("accepted" or "declined") so that it does not appear on every visit.

  • cqfdNewsletterPopupSeen

    Indicates that the newsletter sign-up popup has already been shown to you. Prevents it from reappearing for 30 days.

  • cqfdNewsletterSubscribed

    Indicates that you are already a newsletter subscriber, so we don't ask you to sign up again.

4. Consent banner

On your first visit, a banner at the bottom of the page tells you we use local storage and offers an Accept or Decline choice. Your choice is recorded in cqfdCookieConsent on your device and the banner does not reappear.

If you decline, we also suppress the newsletter sign-up popup. The explicit sign-up forms (footer, in-article, dedicated page) keep working because they represent a deliberate action on your part.

5. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • send you the newsletter you subscribed to;
  • reply to enquiries you send by email;
  • keep the Site secure and working properly.

We never sell or rent your personal information. We do not use it for automated profiling.

6. Retention

Your subscription details are kept for as long as you remain a subscriber. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every newsletter, or by writing to us. Once you unsubscribe, your information is deleted within a reasonable period, subject to any applicable legal retention obligations.

7. Your rights

Under Law 25 you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • have it corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • request its deletion;
  • withdraw your consent to its processing at any time;
  • obtain your data in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability);
  • file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

To exercise these rights, write to services@cqfdlab.com stating the purpose of your request. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Clearing local storage

You can delete the local-storage keys (cqfdCookieConsent, cqfdNewsletterPopupSeen, cqfdNewsletterSubscribed) at any time from your browser settings. On your next visit the consent banner will reappear and your preferences will be reset.

9. Security

The Site is served exclusively over HTTPS. Subscription data is held by our newsletter provider in secure facilities. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction.

10. Changes

We may update this policy to reflect legal, technical or operational changes. The date shown at the top indicates the latest revision. For material changes, we will notify newsletter subscribers by email.

11. Contact us

For any question about this policy or your personal information, write to services@cqfdlab.com or to the postal address listed in section 1.
